Trish Warren's Next Move?

2015 Fitness International. The last time Trish competed on stage. Things could be a-changing very soon.

To make a presence in the industry, one might have to change directions to achieve their ultimate goals. Camala Rodquriez-McClure switched from fitness to figure and would go on to win several titles, including the 2015 Figure International Championship. Juliana Malacarne went from figure to women’s physique and has dominated the division ever since, including winning 2 Olympia Women’s Physique showdowns and winning the first-ever Women’s Physique International back in 2015. Shanique Grant went from figure to women’s physique and in her first women’s physique show won it and is not qualified for the Olympia at 20 years old, one of the youngest to ever qualify for the event.

Which brings me to this…is one of the biggest names in the fitness division finally making the leap to a different division that fits her body type and training more? I’m referring to one of FitGems Nation’s favorite competitors, Trish Warren. For anyone that has followed the industry for at least the past decade, Trish has been one of the top fitness competitors on the planet, competing on multiple Arnolds and Olympias. The last time she stepped on stage was in 2015 during the Arnold Sports Festival. On social media, she has all but confirmed that she’s taking her fitness journey to the next level. Looking at her social media, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what that next level is. I’ll give you a hint…Juliana Malacarne just happens to be the current queen of that division.

For the last few weeks, we have noticed some things about Trish that she’s not done before as much as she’s doing now. For one, she’s flexing quite a bit, and by quite a bit, I mean A LOT. At first I thought it was one of those “She’s embracing her physique a bit more. AWESOME!” kind of things…and there’s nothing wrong with that. Heck, in fact, I have no issue with that whatsoever. You put in the hard work in the gym and in your eating, it’s only right that you embrace your physique in any way you can.
\
But then May 13th happened.

This might have been posted on a Friday the 13th, but there was nothing "bad luck" about this at all. This just seems...right to us!

What's so special about May 13th, you ask? She posted the above photo on her social media accounts…and I made a comment about that she would be great for the women’s physique division despite being a fitness woman through and through, but it was just one guy’s opinion. She replied with the following: “I like your opinion!!! Stay tuned…” Right there, my heart skipped a beat and my mind kept say one word over and over again…”Game…changer”. Should Trish be switching divisions, this could be a big thing for not only Trish, but for the division itself. Don’t believe me?! Let me introduce to you Exhibit A: Trish Warren from 2009.

I’ve seen videos from the Arnold and Olympia from that year. I’ve seen photos from those shows. That look might not have been awarded so well (which made me sad), but I dare for you to show me how can you NOT be taken aback by that. Based off that look and the women’s physique rules today, she would be winning shows left and right.

Maybe Trish's best look (muscle-wise) to date. From the 2009 Fitness Olympia

Something else that has caught my attention: She is changed her training up a good bit. Her training (according to Trish herself) used to be light weights and high reps for conditioning in the fitness division. She is now doing heavier weight training (and I’m assuming lower reps, but I’m not entirely sure) which is something she hasn’t done. She has shown time and time again that Trish can develop quite the muscular physique and now with this change of training, except not just a (slightly) bigger Trish Warren than we’re used to, but a better Trish Warren as well.

Let me make is abundantly clear…WE’RE not saying Trish is heading to women’s physique. We’re just saying that all signs seem to be leaning toward that based off her own words and photos. It's all but confirmed, but we will wait until she makes the official announcement herself. This post is just speculation based off her social media posting over the last few months. Whatever is next for this IFBB superstar, it looks like she could potentially be in the best shape in her entire career. We wish Trish best of luck in this upcoming chapter, as well as the entire Warren family (Branch and Faith Lea) in their endeavors!

Trish competing WITHOUT the heels? Stay tuned, ladies and gentlemen! :)

The Warrens to be on National TV

It's awesome to see those in our industry to be part of mainstream television. On her Twitter account (http://twitter.com/trishwarren), Trish Warren mentioned that her and her husband Branch will be on the Discovery Channel in the near future! Here's her exact Tweet:

Branch and I filmed a documentary for the Discovery Channel, I will keep you posted on when it will air!

So as soon as I hear word of this, I'll pass this information down to you all. So, if you haven't gotten the Discovery Channel, now would be a great time to get it. Congrats to the Warrens! Hope many of you all tune in!

Driven Divas DVD Hot off the Press!!!

What do you get when you put a two-time Figure Olympia champion and a elite IFBB Fitness competitor together with a camera?

NO...it's not what you're probably thinking...(pervs) :)

I'm talking about the new DVD released called Driven Divas.

The DVD chronicles workout partners, Jenny Lynn and Trish Warren, throughout their contest prep for the 2009 Fitness and Figure Olympia. This documentary shows everything that went into their contest prep including workouts, plyometrics, posing practice, routine practice and an informative Q&A with Jenny and Trish about their contest preps and being veteran IFBB Pro athletes.

This was just release, so I have no clue how it looks. But if it's anything like Jenny's past DVD "The Harder I Work, The Luckier I Get", then I think fans will be in for quite a treat. I expect this DVD to be a best-seller in the industry, without question.

This would make the perfect stocking stuffer for any female that is either wanting to become a fitness/figure competitor or those that are competing and want (and/or need) the advice from two top IFBB stars.

The DVD is on sale now for $39.99 and can be purchase through Jenny's website at http://www.jennylynnfitness.com/.

FitGems Olympia Interview: Trish Warren

Trish Warren, aka the Black Mamba is among the top stars in IFBB fitness today. Last year, she made her Olympia debut and placed in the top ten. With the major shake-ups going on in the fitness division, Trish is looking to be a part of the elite stars in IFBB fitness. The Black Mamba was gracious enough to take some time out of her Olympia prep to do this interview.

ALL pictures were provided by Trish herself. Click on the pictures to view them in their original size.

FitGems:
State your name and profession (fitness/figure/female bodybuilding/bikini/other).
Trish Warren: IFBB Fitness Pro Trish Warren

FitGems: How many years have you competed?
Trish: This is my 10th year. My first show was May of 1999
FitGems: You and 2-time Figure Olympia Champion Jenny Lynn have become quite the Dynamic Duo. How did this partnership began, and how has this both affected your performances on stage and training routines for competitions?
Trish: Jenny and I met at the Olympia last year, and hit it off. She moved to Texas for a new beginning after placing fourth last year. I have always trained intense and this is what she needed to get her title back. From there we came up with idea to promote camps, and have our own exclusive clothing line “The Heaven Sent” Collection. It has been a great venture for me because I now have a dedicated business and training partner.

FitGems:I don’t know if you train for strength, but if you could, may you share with FitGems some of your best lifts in the gym?
Trish: Squat – 300 lbs for a set of 6
Deadlift- 275 lbs for a set of 4
These are the only 2 that I have gone super heavy on
FitGems: What (if anything) would you change about your profession?
Trish:MORE MONEY, I think every competitor should walk away with something if you make it to the Olympia Stage!
FitGems: Your physique is absolutely amazing, and personally, I think you have the ideal fitness physique. That being said (this may be a tough question to answer) what do you think represents the ideal fitness competitor, as far as physique and routines are concerned.
Trish: Thank you for the Awesome compliment! I think you need to have a perfect balance of beauty, conditioning, and symmetry, without being too hard for the physique rounds. For the routines you need a clean and crisp 45second routine where all your mandatory strength, and flexibility moves are solid! Seal the deal with a fun and entertaining 2-minute where the crowd remembers your routine! I think I have accomplished all of this for the Olympia!
FitGems:I know you and Branch are SUPER BUSY when you are not competing. What is it that you both do, and how are you able to balance that and training for competitions?
Trish: We own and operate a logistics company “Maximum Logistics,” where we forward freight for our customers all over the world. We travel almost every weekend for guest appearances! Branch is filming a couple TV shows to total 26 episodes. We host camps, the NPC Branch Warren Classic, and our own clothing lines! Of course you can’t forget we both compete! Now on top of all of this our 14 yr. old nephew moved in with us so now we have football, school work, and parental responsibilities! It is a very challenging lifestyle, but not so much that we can’t handle it all! I just thank God everyday for the drive and determination he has given both of us! We work very well together and one day will be sitting in our rocking chairs on our large front porch watching our grandchildren play! That’s our motivation!

(Branch and Trish at the NPC Muscular Development and Muscle Tech Branch Warren Classic)

FitGems: With talent such as Ariel Kadar and Victoria Larvie (teenage superstars) emerging as the future of this sport, do you think a fitness boom will occur soon?
Trish: I hope so, fitness at the NPC level is dying! It’s always nice to see new faces and keep fitness alive!
FitGems: If there was any celebrity that would be a perfect fit in female physique competition, if giving time to be able to condition themselves? Along those lines, what division could you see her competing in?
Trish: I think Fergie would make a great Fitness competitor!

FitGems: You’re competing in your 2nd Olympia. With Kim Scheideler and Jenny Hendershott not in the show, what are your expectations heading into this event? Trish: It’s pretty clear that there’s going to be a new look in the top six.
Trish: I pray that I am one of the lucky top 6! I have taken an aggressive approach to training for this year’s Olympia and hope and pray it all pays off for me!
FitGems: What are you doing differently now to prepare for the show than what you’ve did in your first Olympia show last year?
Trish: I began training for this show right after I placed 2nd at the NY Pro. I knew that I needed new powerful routines so I hired Jenny Hendershott and Lisha Dean to help me come up with a great 2- minute! I worked with Dr. Mike Feulner throughout my off-season something that I have never done before, and he has my physique the absolute best it has ever been!
FitGems: What’s your goal for the Fitness Olympia (as if I don’t already know…LOL) ?
Trish: I would love to Win, but would be satisfied with top 5
FitGems:If you could improve the Olympia in any aspect, what would you do and why?
Trish: To give all the athletes a pay check. After all, it is the Super Bowl of the IFBB and we are all pros! Have the expo and finals in one location, so we aren’t all running around like chickens with our heads cut off to make it to pre-judging.
FitGems: What are your future plans in this industry, short-term and long-term?
Trish: Short term- To become one of the top 5 in the industry
Long term- To win the Olympia, and make a name for myself so I can continue to grow my camps, clothing line, and our NPC show!
FitGems:Do you have any final words for your fans before you compete in the 2009 Fitness Olympia?
Trish: Thanks for interviewing me, God Bless you all and see you in 2 weeks!

Oh yeah Don’t forget about the Rock Star Fitness Camp Oct. 10 near DFW. For more information please contact Jenny Lynn or myself at jennylynnfitness@yahoo.com or trishfit@yahoo.com.

Fitting Observations-Trish Warren, the future of IFBB Fitness?!

Today, I'm introducing a new feature of the FitGems blog entitled "Fitting Observations". I pick a particular competitor or event and tell it like I see it. Need I remind you that these are JUST MY OPINIONS!!! Don't get your panties all in a bunch if I happen to say something that doesn't please you as much.

Okay...let's get this new blog feature rolling, shall we?! :-) For the first feature of this part of the blog, I observe Trish Warren (get your mind out of the gutter, pervs! I'm talking about her current career in the IFBB, thank you.)

Is is just me, or has everyone been getting B.M.F. these days? By that, I'm talking about Black Mamba fever. The Black Mamba is another name for one of the today's rising fitness pros, Trish Warren. If you think she looks familiar and went by another name, then you're right. A while back, she was Trish Mayberry. However, now she's happily married to top IFBB Bodybuilder and MAJOR threat to the Arnold and Olympia titles, Branch Warren. Yep, I guess you can say that the Warrens are the "It" couple in IFBB.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but there's something about Trish that makes her...unique. Special. One to watch, even. She has the "it" factor. And when you have the "it" factor, you can only go one direction and that's up. Trish has been doing exactly that, and it's showing big time.

A top fitness competitor needs to have charisma, talent, strength, and, or course, an amazing physique that can handle the physical challenges of fitness, which is what makes fitness unique. Trish seems to posses all of that and more, and is being rightfully rewarded at last for having a great combination of charisma, talent, strength, and a killer physique with great muscularity, vascularity, and overall conditioning that's
perfect for fitness. Dare I say that she might be one of the best complete competitors out there today! I mean that 110%. All she needs is more showings like she had at her first Olympia last year (top ten in her debut) and her first Arnold this year (top ten in her debut) as well as the New York Pro (2008 and 2009-top three finishes), and Trish will be on her way to joining the IFBB fitness elite in no time. She may even be the one leading a new class of IFBB fitness elite in the near future, who knows?

So what's my prediction for the Black Mamba? She will place in the top six at the 2009 Olympia, win a fitness show in 2010 or 2011, and be in top contention for the Fitness International and Fitness Olympia title until her body says "I've had enough".

Be on the lookout for Mrs. Warren in the years ahead. You'll see her next competing at the 2009 Fitness Olympia. The Black Mamba is on the prowl, and she's hunting down IFBB immortality. IFBB Fitness, you've been put on notice. BEHOLD THE ALL-MIGHTY BLACK MAMBA!!!!
