I only cancelled it once due to losing a family member and it wasn’t fair to do those awards with a fractured state of mine. This year, life just happened and I failed to realized that I didn’t do them and that’s 100% on me. I didn’t prioritize my time and I apologize to you all for that. With the bodybuilding season about to kick off very soon, it’s too late to get stuff together tor the past year so I’ve decided to not do the awards this year. It’s also become painfully clear that I can’t do this alone anymore due to how things in my personal life are.

That’s where YOU all come in.

I’m looking for 10 people that would be interested in joining the FitGems Awards Committee. These 10 people will help decide on the nominees for each category of the awards. These 10 will be different each year so if you don’t get selected this year, you can submit to be part of the committee in the future. VOTING IN THE AWARDS WILL NOT CHANGE…it will still be decided by the fans as it’s always been.

Although it’s early, you can send in your submissions beginning now at fitgemsnation@gmail.com. Because of how serious I take this, submissions will be done via EMAIL ONLY. Submit your name, your relationship to the bodybuilding world (competitor, fan/spectator, judge, etc.), and a very brief but detailed reasoning on why you should be selected as part of the committee. Put FGAC 2024 on the subject line. Last day to send in your committee submission will be October 9, the day before the start of the 2024 Olympia. You will be notified by email if you made the committee by October 14, the day after the Olympia. The tentative voting week will be January 5-11, with the awards to be announced beginning January 13. That is subject to change, but I will give plenty of notice on that.

Thank you all for your support of FitGems Nation and the FitGems Awards. Again, my apologies for now being able to do the awards this year, but hopefully this new format will get it back on track and preserve these awards for years to come. To all of you, have a wonderful season and here to you all achieving your goals this year!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2811206096575587797.post-12575318363711448452024-01-18T03:15:00.001-06:002024-01-18T03:15:38.097-06:00Ash By Elegance: TNA Knockout
Credit to the original owners of the photos

When Ashley Sebera (formerly known as Dana Brooke in WWE) was released from her WWE contact, we would hope that if she wanted to continue wrestling, she would go to Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling (TNA) as their women’s division (known as the Knockouts division) is viewed by most wrestling fans to be the best women’s division in mainstream wrestling and the REAL birthplace of the women’s revolution in pro wrestling (not WWE like they claim to be). On January 17, 2024, it was made official that Ashley did indeed sign to TNA.

Her first appearance for the company took place at TNA Hard to Kill under the name Ash by Elegance. During the premium live event (PLE), a blonde woman (whose face was not shown) stepped out of a vehicle and walked into the arena. A lot of speculation was made, and some folks discovered the shoes the mystery woman wore were the same shows Ashley wore in an Instagram photo from her Fantime site. Because of SPECULATION ONLY, her WWE name Dana Brooke trended on Twitter/X throughout Hard to Kill, even being talked about just as much as the event itself. Right before the TNA Knockouts World Championship match between then-champion Trinity and now-champion Jordynne Grace, it was revealed that Ashley was indeed the mystery woman, now going by Ash by Elegance. She even had a manager with her now, George Iceman. For those that watched Impact Wrestling before the TNA relaunch, he was part of BTI (Before the Impact) and would give insider scoops on what to expect on Impact shows and premium events. With BTI now a thing of the past, it looks like Iceman will be Ash’s manager going forward, which could do her wonders.

While not even making a promo or being in the ring, her look caused some folks to think she copied Timeless Toni Storm in All Elite Wrestling (AEW). The problem with the comparison is folks are judging Ash by less than 30 seconds of footage from a PLE where she did not speak, nor did she get in the ring. In due time (maybe as early as tonight’s TNA iMPACT), we will get our answers.

One thing we can say is that Ash is ready to unleash her untapped potential that WWE refused to let out. TNA has done wonders for women who wanted to take their careers to the next level: Gail Kim, Taryn Terrell, Brooke Tessmacher, Tara, Deonna Purrazzo, Mickie James, and most recently Trinity, among others. If Ash gets her way, we can very well add her to that list. We said whoever gets her was gonna get a hell of a worker. TNA is about to find out why we sing her praises and will continue to do so for as long as we can. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the era of Total Nonstop Ash by Elegance!

Follow Ash on the following social media accounts and her own premium website:

Twitter/X

Instagram

Threads

TikTok

Fantime site

Follow Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling at https://www.tnawrestling.com

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2811206096575587797.post-25569321578335981392023-10-24T22:57:00.002-05:002024-02-13T02:09:33.609-06:00Monica Brant, 1998 Fitness Olympia Champion: A Look Back 25 Years Later

One of the greatest to ever do it!

October 24, 1998.

Nice, France,

The first and (as of now) only time the Fitness Olympia contest went international.

17 fitness women from all over the world came to France to find out who was the number one fitness competitor in the world that year. Several top legends competed that year, including Lena Johannesen, Mary Yockey, Susie Curry, Timea Majorova, and Jenny Worth (who made her Olympia debut that night). But when it was all said and done, all eyes were on the Texas native Monica Brant. Once prejudging was over, it fell like a formality that Monica would become the Queen of Fitness. Finals was just icing on the cake for her with a routine just impressive enough to secure her the title of Fitness Olympia Champion.

Monica had already established herself as one of the biggest name in the industry in the 90s with her impressive resume as well as being one of the original fitness models, alongside women like Trish Stratus, Torrie Wilson, and Victoria Pratt. She won her first pro show in 1995, winning the Jan Tana Fitness Pro competition, but it would take her three more years before being in the winners circle again. But again, her competitions and her fitness modeling only made her more popular with each passing year. 1998 would be the year that everything would come together and it culminated with Monica taking her rightful place on the throne as the best fitness competitor in the world.

It’s 2023 and folks are STILL influenced by Monica Brant. This shows you her greatness throughout her career and what she has done for the industry despite her days on stage well behind her. There has been many competitors and models that have made their name in the bodybuilding industry, but there is only one Monica Jean Brant, and she will forever be a Fitness Icon.

For more on the legendary Monica, follow her on Facebook, Twitter/X, and Instagram. Please read with caution.

If you haven’t noticed via our social media, we think very little of WWE these days in a positive light. They have done more to make us hate them then love them, especially when the piece of shit known as Vince McMahon slithered his way back to the company as Executive Chairman after being ousted around summer 2022 due to sexual allegations. Anyone with a brain knew he would find a way to screw it up for so many people if he ever got any power back. Hell, his own daughter Stephanie McMahon, who served as co-executive chairperson once he was gone, stepped down once the snake returned. And in quite a bit of shows, we’ve seen his unfortunate influence. We also knew that with him back, some people were unfairly going to lose their jobs, especially due to his orchestrating merging with his buddies Dana White of UFC and Ari Emanuel of Endeavor to form TKO Group. Last week, over 100 WWE office employees lost their jobs due to the merger and you knew the talent would be next. On September 21, talent cuts were made…and unfortunately Dana Brooke was one of several that got the ax.

A woman who has so much more to give in the world of professional wrestling.

She had about a year left in her current contract so OF COURSE the pieces of shit in WWE would not honor that. They demoted her to NXT because they “didn’t have anything for her on RAW”, which we all know is a fucking lie. But it’s WWE, what did you expect from them? Honesty?! 🙄Anyways, her time in NXT let her to rediscover herself as she ended up seemingly feeling rejuvenated, having not only pretty good matches with the NXT roster, but having a STORYLINE and CHARACTER that was interesting, as well as teaming up with a new member of the roster in Kelani Jordan. Things were getting very interesting with Dana seemingly losing her grip on reality and possibly turning on Kelani soon. Unfortunately thanks to the son of a bitch Vince, we will never know what will go down. Every time Dana has had SOMETHING seeming to go her way (turning on Charlotte which was setting up for a massive baby face push, Sexy Muscle Friends with Mandy Sacs (Rose) that was setting up a WWE Women’s Tag Team title opportunity, her 24/7 title shenanigans that seemingly could have paved the way for a women’s midcard title), WWE would cut off her legs right when it was about to get good. And with this, they cut off her legs for good by releasing her (along with several others). But it’s not just Vince that has been a punk ass bitch to Dana. Sam Roberts mentioned on commentary during a match Dana had with Tamina about Tamina being in a bad mood (she’s always in a bad mood, character-wise) but Sam said for no reason that you would be in a bad mood if you had to wrestle Dana. Corey Graves said a couple of years ago right on commentary that Dana needed to get a pink slip a long time ago. And do I even NEED to get into the putrid NXT crowd?! How Dana survived a decade of disrespect and NOT break down…we’ll never know. But we commend her for it.

December 21st will be the day she can sign to any company she chooses to. If it were up to us, we would love to see her go to Impact Wrestling. They have the BEST women’s division in pro wrestling. Everyone means something there and they care about their product, their employees, their roster, and their fans. She can work fewer days and be home with her husband and stepson more while being in a company that actually gives a damn, unlike WWE. She doesn’t have to deal with an old ass piece of shit like Vince and can be who she wants to be. She would have a legit chance to sink or swim on HER OWN TERMS. She would probably be around better fans as well, because that fucking NXT crowd did her no favors. Should she go to Impact, she would have at least two people she knows she can work with: Trinity and Mickie James. Maybe a third if Emma/Tenille Dashwood goes back there. If she wants a brighter spotlight, obviously All Elite Wrestling or Ring of Honor would be the way to go for her. At the moment, we trust ROH more than AEW, but either would be better for WWE for Dana. Hell, ANYTHING is better than WWE at this point.

To us, WWE never deserved Dana Brooke but she deserved an opportunity from them which she never properly got. But now the ball’s in her court. She is no longer part of a company that should have died a long time ago. As of Christmas, she will be free to go where she wants to go and sign with whoever she wants to sign with. For Dana Brooke, playtime is over. But for Ashley Sebera-Diaz, her WWE departure is only the beginning for one of the most hardworking women in the game today.

The world is yours now, Ashley. The day everything changes for The Brickhouse of professional wrestling.

Kamille defeated Serena Deeb to win the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) World Women’s Championship, which is also known as The Burke, in honor of the late, great former and first-ever NWA World Women’s Champion Mildred Burke back in 1950. For 813 days, Kamille was unstoppable, taking on the best the world of women’s wrestling has to offer, which included names such as Max the Impaler, Melina Perez, Chelsea Green, Kylie Rae, Taya Valkyrie, Kilynn King, Angelina Love, and Natalia Markova, among many others for a total of 42 title defenses. Her matches in the later part of her reign have been considered show-stealers in various NWA shows. Many fans have openly stated that the reason they even paid attention to the NWA today was due to Kamille. To many, SHE was the face of the NWA, not the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion or the Ten Pounds of Gold. But like all things, they must come to an end and on August 27, night 2 of NWA 75, a night after defeating Natalia Markova to retain her title, she would lose to Kenzie Paige, bringing Kamille’s incredible reign to an end. Fun fact: Kenzie was Kamille’s first title defense back in July 24, 2021, so how ironic that Kamille’s run would end by her very first challenger. With over 40 title defenses across 16 promotions spanning the globe, it’s safe to say that Kamille might go down as one of the most dominant NWA World Women’s Champions of all time.

813 days. 42 title defenses across different promotions around the world. What a run by the Brickhouse!

But now begs the question…what’s next for the Brickhouse? I mean, she CAN chase the Burke again, but let’s face it, after having a record run with it, what more can you do with that title? She can go after the NWA World Women’s Televlsion title but that wouldn’t be the same as it’s not as big as the Burke in terms of legacy, but Kamille winning that title would give it instant credibility. Then there’s the other option…take her talents to a bigger stage, which she has MORE than earned her right to be showcased to a bigger audience. The obvious answers would be WWE and AEW. For WWE, it would be a chance for the Brickhouse to have classic dream encounters with competitors such as Charlotte Flair, Bianca Belair, Rhea Ripley, Becky Lynch, Raquel Rodriquez, and others. Maybe if Raw or Smackdown isn’t an option, the NXT women’s division would be a great place for her as well, as many feel the NXT women’s division is the best overall division among all three brands in WWE. But a part of me would rather see her in AEW, as let’s face it…they could use a good jolt to their women’s division. The talent is there, but the star power and presence is lacking some. Kamille would give them that instantly , and HELLO…Kamille vs Jade Cargill?! INSTANT BOX OFFICE! Neither are undefeated anymore, but it doesn’t make it any less of a dream match to me. Impact Wrestling could also be an option for Kamille as she would get to work with an incredibly talented Knockouts division. While it would be a step down in terms of exposure in comparison with WWE and AEW, it would be a step up in comparison with NWA as at least Kamille would be on television as opposed to just being online. As far as a great wrestling promotion is concerned, folks need to stop sleeping on Impact Wrestling.

Regardless of what Kamille does, she has already seal her place in wrestling as one of the most dominant champions in women’s wrestling history. Anything else she does in the ring at this point regardless of where she goes moving forward is just icing on the cake. She is only 30 so she’s far from done in the ring. Kamille controls her own destiny at this point. We DO know one thing in her immediate future, though: Kamille will be playing as June Byers in the upcoming Queen of the Ring movie, which is currently in production. Queen of the Ring is about Mildred Burke’s rise as a pro wrestler.

We have a gut feeling that despite already making history, the best is yet to come for the Brickhouse and we look forward to it with much anticipation!

Open the bank for her. We do not own them.

We have advocated for Dana Brooke practically her entire WWE career because we feel she has all the tools needed to be a top name in the company. But for whatever reasons (not her fault, BTW) she has yet to obtain any true success in WWE or viewed with any respect by folks. In fact, there are folks out that flat out HATE her for the sole purpose of just hating her. She has done nothing to warrant any of it but they do it anyways. But despite the unwarranted and disturbing hate she gets, Dana still pushes through and to out delight and the haters’ disgust, she’s still employed by the company. And maybe…JUST MAYBE…she is gonna get the chance she’s fighting for for a while with her return to NXT.

June 6: A return that flipped the NXT Women’s Division upside down!

On June 6, NXT had a Number One Contender’s Battle Royal to determine the first challenger for Tiffany Stratton’s NXT Women’s Championship. We thought we knew all the competitors that would be part of it the previous week until earlier in the show, they showed Dana Brooke walking into the NXT arena and talking about how an opportunity was there for the taking and inserted herself into the battle royal, flipping the main event on its head. Dana made it all the way to the final three before she (and Cora Jade at the same time) was eliminated by the eventual winner Thea Hail. That one night, she was presented much better better than most of her career on the main roster. It continued the following week with a well-done video package of Dana highlighting her career (BTW…it did NOT include her Sexy Muscle Friends tag-team with Mandy Rose for…obvious reasons) and an interview of what she is fighting for. Cora Jade interrupted Dana and got slapped…which Dana made sure she got her lick back during Cora’s match with Thea Hail. Because of that, tonight on Night One of NXT Gold Rush, Dana Brooke will have her first singles NXT women’s match since NXT Takeover: Respect as she will take on Cora. If this goes well, she might be on her way to the NXT Women’s Championship and possibly beyond.

If done correctly, Dana could potentially find herself on the road to redemption and finally be a credible superstar. Like we’ve stated before, the fault is not Dans’s own. She has done everything asked of her and THEY have let her down. But now, it seems like the ball’s finally in her corner for the first time ever. Fans have rallied to #GiveDanaAChance. Now…it’s Dana’s turn to seal the deal. This NXT run is not to prove her haters wrong…this is to prove herself and her fans RIGHT. Dana, we rooting for you. Time to remind the world who the hell you truly are, Dana Brooke!

Is this the chance Dana has FINALLY been fighting for? Our Thoughts on WWE’s Next Potential Franchise Superstar, Tiffany Stratton
DISCLAIMER: All photos are from WWE’s social media accounts.

This Sunday on Peacock, NXT will host Battleground as part of a massive weekend of wrestling on Memorial Day weekend. On that night, a new NXT Women’s Champion will be crowned. What’s special about this title win is whoever wins on Sunday will become the 100th woman in the history of WWE to hold Championship Gold of any kind in WWE, whether it be an official women’s championship (single or tag-team) or any intergender title such as the now-defunct Hardcore or 24/7 Championships. On one side is the very talented and mysterious Lyra Valkyria, who ran threw the now-defunct NXT UK like a hot knife through butter. On the other side, a woman who many have said could be a future franchise player in WWE…the woman we are going to talk about today: Tiffany Stratton.

One of her new looks since returning earlier this year

Tiffany (real name Jessica Woynilko ) would make her wrestling debut on NXT Level Up on November 16, 2021. That show is where up-and-coming Superstars would make their mark before being put on TV, testing the waters sorta speak. About a month later (December 28 to be exact), Tiffany would make her official NXT debut. It was clear there was SOMETHING there in terms of character, but folks weren’t too sold on her as an in-ring competitor. That all changed on the January 28, 2022 edition of NXT (then known at the time as NXT 2.0) when she would face Io Shiari (now Iyo Sky) and take her first loss, but the loss ended up being the best thing that could have happened to her as folks began to take notice of Tiffany that night. It was only Tiffany’s 3rd match ever and Iyo didn’t need to carry Tiffany much at all. That match caused folks to back up on their Tiffany dissing and began to go “Okay…maybe Tiffany’s got something”. Tiffany also had a different look that make folks take notice as well. Gone was the skirt, and hello super heroine/villian-esque attire. Folks would being to take even more notice of Tiffany in 2022, including the inaugural NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament Finals against Roxanne Perez, NXT Women’s Championship #1 Contender Battle Royal (where many claimed her at the MVP of that match), and the Lights Out match with Wendy Choo. While she didn’t win those three matches, folks left with a better show of respect for her than they did going into those matches. It also didn’t hurt that Tiffany did have a cool finisher in matches she DID win…her Tiffy Twister, a twisting splash from the top turnbuckle.

From her early days in NXT 2.0

After her Lights Out match in August, Tiffany would take the rest of 2022 off after suffering an injury to heal up and refocus, getting her body to an even crazier level than it already was and would return to NXT on January 10 of this year no longer Daddy’s Little Rich Girl…but the Center of the Universe. She made it clear that she was the star of NXT and for the last few months, she had proven to be just that. It’s been clear as day that Tiffany has been groomed to be the top lady of the brand but not being pinned or submitted at any time thus far in 2023, only suffering losses on TV in a Ladder Match and in a Triple Threat Match where she was NOT the deciding factor. She replaced the impressive Tiffy Twister with an even more impressive finisher…the PME (Prettiest Moonsault Ever), a triple-jump moonsault that was made famous by wrestler Christopher Daniels, which HE calls it the BME (Best Moonsault Ever). That’s set up by what wrestler Kenny Omega calls “You Can’t Escape”, a fireman’s carry rolling slam. (Not sure what Tiffany calls it just yet). The way she flows from the slam to the moonsault with ease is nothing short of amazing, and apparently she wants to add on to that with a front twist in the near future. If she does that…GOOD LORD.

It would seem that we are drawing near to Tiffany’s crowning moment and this Sunday seems like that will be the night for her coronation at the top of the NXT Women’s division. When she first arrived, folks didn’t think she would last. Now, those same folks are looking forward to her potential crowning moment at NXT Battleground. All we have to say at this point is enjoy the ride, because we feel we are looking at the next franchise WWE Superstar. We send our best wishes to Tiffany Stratton as she aims to make her way to the Tiffy Top this Memorial Day weekend. How appropriate to have her kick off the summer as NXT Women’s Champion. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that a good deal of them have developed pretty muscular physiques over the years. Simone biles, Aly Raisman, and Shawn Johnson East are only a few gymnasts with physiques out of this world. Dare we say though there’s a woman in Ball State University that physique-wise…might have them all beat. That person goes by the name of Megan Teter.

Photo creditL Megan’s Instagram

Dubbed by her teammates as “Muscle Mommy”, Megan not only has arguably THE most incredible physique of any gymnast we’ve ever seen, but her resume is pretty damn impressive as well. But like every great athlete, nothing was handed to her. We won’t go into all the details on that, but we’ll let a video of her journey getting to Ball State University tell you SOME of the story (we say some because the video was done a couple of years ago. She will run it back one final year, exercising her 5th year eligibility clause).

Now, we have no clue how aware she is of the NPC/IFBB fitness division or if she’s aware of it at all. If she is aware of it, someone in the fitness division needs to be a mentor to her (preferably someone who went from gymnastics to the NPC/IFBB) so she can make the transition to do fitness competitions. If she is NOT aware of what the fitness division is, someone needs to have a serious conversation with her about what the fitness division is and try to convince her to look into it after her gymnastics career ends next year. Her energy, dedication, and obviously her physique would make her an instant fan-favorite. If her look now has made her popular enough for her friends and fans to call her Muscle Mommy, imagine what she do with proper bodybuilding training within the fitness division! Either way, we have a feeling the story of Megan Teter is FAR from over. Whatever route she goes once her collegiate gymnastics career is over, she has our full support. And with her physique and abilities, the world is hers for the taking.

For more on Megan, check out her Ball State University Gymnastics athlete page, follow her on Twitter and Instagram.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2811206096575587797.post-30159185869973591652023-05-22T01:11:00.003-05:002023-05-22T07:23:03.244-05:00Dana Brooke Appreciation Night This Wednesday

This Wednesday (May 24) is unofficially Dana Brooke Appreciation Night! Why you ask?! Because our good friends over at Those Wrestling Girls will be dedicating their weekly fan club this week on their Twitch channel to our forever queen! You all know how much we appreciate her and it feels good to see a women’s wrestling podcast feel the same way we do about her.

For those that don’t know who Those Wrestling Girls (TWG) are, here’s a little background: TWG is a wrestling podcast and fan community created in 2018 after WWE Evolution took place. Krista B. and Queen P.R. were so inspired by that event ( BTW, WWE…when the hell is Evolution 2 gonna happen?!) that they decided to take it upon themselves to create TWG and it has grown into more than just a podcast. TWG has become a rapidly-growing fan community that has been a part of many wrestling events these last couple of years, including Wrestlemania and Walemania. They support all women’s wrestling and wrestling in general but they keep it real and don’t sugarcoat things to make people feel better. That is what we love about they talk about Dana. Obviously they love her and are rooting for her, but they keep it real and honest about her. Others unfortunately are just vile and filled with unnecessary hatred toward Dana…not them. TWG treats her with respect.

Each week, they do a live gathering for the TWG community called #TWGFanClub, which focuses on wrestlers and different topics in wrestling, such as wrestling themes, cliches, historic events in wrestling, etc. This week, Dana gets the spotlight and their goal is to make this the biggest Dana Brooke appreciation event social media has ever seen. This will take place this Wednesday night at 7PM Eastern time/6PM Central time on their Twitch channel. If you can’t be there the whole time, just show up when you can once it starts. You can also follow along on Twitter using the hashtag #TWGFanClub. We need to let Dana Brooke know that not everyone in the world (especially in the wrestling world) is against her. She has a very noticeable amount of people cheering for her. Their Twitch account is https://www.twitch.tv/thosewrestlinggirls.

Dana Brooke, you ARE loved. You ARE appreciated. You DO belong. Let’s us show you that Wednesday night.

For more on Those Wrestling Girls and ALL of their links to their previous podcast episodes as well as their social media platforms, please visit them at thosewrestlinggirls.com.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2811206096575587797.post-39846161244850988452023-05-02T23:41:00.001-05:002023-05-02T23:43:47.354-05:00#GiveDanaBrookeAChance: The Movement Is Real
This past Friday and Monday was the 2023 WWE Draft and it was determined that Dana Brooke will remain on the Raw brand. Comparing both brands, Smackdown has the heavy hitters while RAW is filled mostly with a bunch of unproven talent. There was a time in 2016 that Smackdown was viewed as the land of opportunity, and it now looks like RAW has that distinction of being the new “land of opportunity” in the women’s division.

On both nights, a fan-driven Twitter movement started by Jugsss (itsmejugal_) using the hashtag #GiveDanaBrookeAChance spread like wildfire and got it trending for a majority of the WWE Draft. Dana unfortunately has a smaller fan base than most ladies, but it didn’t stop from the hashtag trending and starting a wildfire that has united Dana Brooke fans (calling themselves Danamals…cute name) and those that may not be entirely Dana Brooke fans but do want to see her get that long-overdue opportunity. With that being said, we are going to explain how the draft coudn’t have played out any better for Dana if she handled it herself.

Wide-open singles roster: Outside of Rhea Ripley and Becky Lynch, the singles division is wide open for the taking, especially with Becky feuding with Trish at the moment. Last year, they build up Liv Morgan into a star and is currently one-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. They seemingly are doing the same with Zelina Vega (who is on Smackdown). Raw doesn’t have that woman just yet and who better than Dana considering everything she has been through in AND out of the ring these last few years. And if her showings on Main Event (she returns there on Thursday on Hulu against Piper Niven) are any indication, folks are ready to get behind Dana Brooke. WWE has to be the one to pull the trigger. Imagine Dana being built properly enough to win Miss MITB and/or finally change for the RAW Women’s Championship properly. The opportunity is there more than ever before.

Feud with Trish Stratus: I saw this on Twitter today and it never crossed my mind until then but how crazy would that be for Dana to somehow, someway get involved in a storyline with the GOAT?! It don’t even have to be a long feud either, something to keep Trish busy until possibly Summerslam (when Trish and Becky could have their encounter at) and it would give Dana the biggest rub of her career working with a legend. If Trish were to work with Dana, that would show the brass that she has that much faith in Dana and that would go a long way towards making Dana a made woman.

An EnD reunion with Emma: This one on Twitter seems to be the most popular one. When Emma was announced to join RAW, a lot of folks rejoiced hoping that both Emma and Dana would potentially reunite and go after tag team gold. It might happen, it might not. But the idea is there…the potential is there. It’s just a matter of if WWE will even bother to revisit it. While RAW does have a good amount of teams for a change, it wouldn’t hurt to add another one and EnD would make sense from the internet fans as they did team up in the past. Based off their past, there’s no way they can ignore it.

A reunited EnD joining forces with Trish: As I mentioned earlier, a rub by Trish would do wonders for Dana. But rather than face Trish, how about a reunited EnD joining forces with the WWE Hall-of-Famer to make Becky Lynch’s life (and anyone else’s for that matter) a living hell. Imagine Trish mentoring Emma and Dana and all three ladies do what no female faction in WWE (outside of Toxic Attraction) has done…hold gold (Trish with the Raw Women’s title and Emma and Dana with the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles). This was also brought up on Twitter and the more I thought about it…the more I actually like it.

Forming a tag-team with someone other than Emma: As i mentioned before, Dana has options to be a big part of Raw these days, and it’s not just limited to teaming with Emma. She could team up with her fellow 24/7 rivals Nikki Cross or Piper Niven, someone who has rallied for her for years in Natalya, or team up with someone she got to know on Main Event very well in Zoey Stark. I mean, it’s there if she wants to!

Bottom line, Dana has options. Dana has more than shown she is ready to take that next team. It’s up to WWE to see this for themselves. Hell, she trended on Twitter on both nights of the draft. That can’t be ignored no matter who you are. WWE, you have no more excuses. The entire company has a clean slate come next Monday thanks to the draft. It’s time to live up to the hashtag and #GiveDanaBrookeAChance!!!

Follow Dana at the following social media accounts:

Twitter: DanaBrookeWWE

Instagram: ashasebera_danabrooke

TikTok: ashasebera_danabrooke
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2811206096575587797.post-19121174142794498162023-04-23T02:05:00.002-05:002023-12-27T02:07:55.236-06:00Lauren Rutan: One-of-One in Female Muscle

When FitGems Nation first heard about Lauren Rutan, it was in 2017 during the NPC Jr. Nationals, where she placed 10th in Figure Class A. The muscularity she brought on stage that day was off-the-charts. In our honest opinion, she could have fit in very well with today’s figure competitors. Prior to her competing at the Jr. Nationals, she competed in the NPC Mid-Atlantic Cup and won the overall figure title, which qualified her for the Jr. Nationals in the first place. In addition to training for her IFBB card , she also trained for POWERLIFTING. Yes, she trained for physique competitions and powerlifting AT THE SAME DAMN TIME. That is INSANE, considering the training for both sports vary in many ways. While she unfortunately was unsuccessful in her World bid in 2017, she would end up winning her IFBB Pro Card by winning the Women’s Physique Class A at the NPC Nationals, the biggest amateur show of the year.

2017 Jr. Nationals…the event that introduced us to Lauren Rutan..and we’ve been in awe since!

It was during 2017 during our interview with her and doing our own research on Lauren that we found out just how special she really is. To call her pound-for-pound one of the strongest PEOPLE (not just women) in the world isn’t too much of a stretch to us.

Her muscle achievements ALONE make her a living superwoman to us, but let’s add her non-muscle achievements (which we highlighted this past week on our Facebook and Instagram). She’s a controller at KinectAir, a Payroll and Finance Administrator at HealthLinx, a wife, and a mother of five…soon to be SIX. Yep, she does so much and has achieved so much before the age of 40 (which she will be next year).

Photo credit: Indian Land CrossFit Facebook

The Lord has been truly good to this woman, as you can obviously tell. Lauren has WAY pushed past the boundaries of what a human body is capable of and is truly the living definition of “no excuses”. If you want something back, you will find a way to get it. We don’t know if she will do anything else in the muscle world after her sixth child is born (like she has anything to prove to anyone at this point) but to us, she is a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer in any and all muscle-related categories. There will never be another Lauren Rutan in our lifetime. If you haven’t given her her flowers, now would be a good time to do so. She’s more than earned them.

Only person to compete in the Arnold in powerlifting, weightlifting, CrossFit, AND bodybuilding (women’s physique). As I mentioned on social media, I had a few special announcements to make.

Earlier I began After the Final Callout on Instagram, which will showcase former competitors as well as post information and tips on how to live post-competition. We have yet to make a post, but that will change this weekend with our first post. We will also be launching a Facebook page as well.

Some of you are aware of Physiques of Women’s Wrestling (PHOWW), which focuses on the physiques of female professional wreslters of the past, present, and future. We silently launched a Discord server, but we will be making a blog for PHOWW in the coming days. All of our wrestling posts will be going there rather than our main blog going forward, with the exception of a few things. So yes, PHOWW is expanding.

Next Saturday (April 22) is Lauren Rutan’s birthday and beginning this Monday, we will be celebrating her life and accomplishments in the female muscle world (which is to us, the most decorated of any female muscle athlete EVER) dubbing April 17-22 Lauren Rutan Week (we did something similar for Monica Brant and Christine Pomponio a few years ago)

Monday-Life outside the world of muscle

Tuesday-Weightlifting

Wednesday-Powerlifting

Thursday-CrossFit

Friday-Physique competitions in the NPC/IFBB

Saturday-Birthday blog post celebrating Lauren’s greatness

In the coming days, we will be launching our latest project called Fitness ModelVerse, which will be showcasing not only the female athletes and models but the photographers as well. Our aim is to make this a networking format for current and aspiring female fitness models and photographers. There will be an Instagram, Facebook page, and Facebook group.

I know it seems like a lot, but I’m at a point where I feel like I can do this without too many issues moving forward. If you have any questions about these announcements and potentially what lies ahead, email me at fitgemsnation@gmail.com or DM me on your favorite social media platform (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter). Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2811206096575587797.post-49686520864068181772023-04-10T01:38:00.003-05:002023-04-11T00:23:29.039-05:002022 FitGems Awards Results
I feel like I’m a broken record at this point, but I want to apologize for how these awards went down this year. As I mentioned earlier, life can take unexpected turns and you have to adjust accordingly. Now I’m at a point where I can finally get this out to you all so you can vote on who was the best in 2022. Better late than never, especially with competition season about to go full throttle in a matter of weeks. Voting is open from now until next Monday, March 21st at Midnight Eastern time. Awards will be announced that weekend.

With the FitGems Fan Favorites, write in (type) who was your favorite from each category in 2022. If they competed as an amateur AND a pro, they are eligible for both as long as they did it in 2022. Because it’s only one week, there is no limit to how many times you can vote. But like always, your favorites can’t win if you don’t vote! Pass this along to everyone you know.

To everyone that’s nominated, congrats to you all and best of luck to everyone!

VOTE BELOW:

https://forms.gle/BDDjRedzhGB2V6ZX6
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2811206096575587797.post-36136298970639704252023-03-07T23:12:00.001-06:002023-03-07T23:12:11.747-06:00Important 2022 FitGems Awards Update as well as the future of the FitGems Awards Life can take some crazy turns. My life is no different. On that note, I want to apologize for how delayed the FitGems Awards are. If it’s not sickness, it’s something else. But on that note, I’m happy to announce that on Monday, March 13, voting will begin for the awards. The awards will be a bit this year than previously planned for personal reasons, especially with this significant addition: FitGems Fan Favorites. You will be able to nominate anyone who competed in 2022 in certain categories, whether they won a show or not. You can vote and nominate once per day. Voting will end on March 20th, the first day of spring. Winners will be announced a few days after.

Here’s the new list of categories for the 2022 FitGems Awards:

FitGems Nation Woman of the Year

Pro Female Bodybuilder of the Year

Pro Women’s Physique Competitor of the Year

Pro Fitness Competitor of the Year

Pro Figure Competitor of the Year

Pro Bikini Competitor of the Year

Pro Wellness Competitor of the Year

Masters Pro Female Bodybuilder of the Year

Masters Pro Women’s Physique Competitor of the Year

Masters Pro Fitness Competitor of the Year

Masters Pro Figure Competitor of the Year

Masters Pro Bikini Competitor of the Year

Masters Pro Wellness Competitor of the Year

FitGems Fan Favorite Pro Female Bodybuilder of 2022

FitGems Fan Favorite Pro Women’s Physique Competitor of 2022

FitGems Fan Favorite Pro Fitness Competitor of 2022

FitGems Fan Favorite Pro Figure Competitor of 2022

FitGems Fan Favorite Pro Bikini Competitor of 2022

FitGems Fan Favorite Pro Wellness Competitor of 2022

Amateur Female Bodybuilder of the Year

Amateur Women’s Physique Competitor of the Year

Amateur Fitness Competitor of the Year

Amateur Figure Competitor of the Year

Amateur Bikini Competitor of the Year

Amateur Wellness Competitor of the Year

FitGems Fan Favorite Amateur Female Bodybuilder of 2022

FitGems Fan Favorite Amateur Women’s Physique Competitor of 2022

FitGems Fan Favorite Amateur Fitness Competitor of 2022

FitGems Fan Favorite Amateur Figure Competitor of 2022

FitGems Fan Favorite Amateur Bikini Competitor of 2022

FitGems Fan Favorite Amateur Wellness Competitor of 2022

FitGems Fan Favorite Fitness Model of 2022

Fitness Model of the Year

Jenny Lynn Fitness Ambassador of the Year

Social Media Woman of the Year

Moment of the Year

Photographer of the Year

Videographer of the Year

Fit Celebrity of the Year

Fittest Female RAW Superstar of the Year

Fittest Female Smackdown Superstar of the Year

Fittest Female NXT Superstar of the Year

Fittest Female AEW Wrestler of the Year

Fittest Impact Wrestling Knockout of the Year

Fittest Female Wrestler of the Year (ROH/NWA/Indies)

Physique Paysite of the Year

Physique Paysite Model of the Year

Fitness Clothing Line of the Year

Team of the Year

Mad Mountain John Meadows Male Trainer of the Year

Female Trainer of the Year

Nominees to be revealed this weekend outside of the FitGems Fan Favorites (that you nominate yourself) and FitGems Nation Woman of the Year (those have already been revealed on Instagram).

Also…to avoid any more issues going forward, I’m doing something I’ve never done before…form a committee for the FitGems Awards. Here’s my take on each division as well as who made the top 5 in each female category.

MS. OLYMPIA

Ever since the return of the Ms. Olympia competition in 2020, Andrea Shaw has proven that she is the new standard of women’s bodybuilding. This was no different this year as Andrea left Vegas as a 3x Champion, putting herself in dynasty mode with the likes of Cory Everson, Lenda Murray, and Iris Kyle. Outside of winning, Angela Yeo couldn’t have had a better Olympia debut, as she placed 2nd. I would not be suprised if Angela is the one to dethrone Andrea down the line…maybe as early as next year! Helle Trevino placed 3rd with her incredible physique. Margie Martin places 4th in her final show, and considering her career, that’s not a bad way to go being one of the top five female bodybuilders in the world. Branka Njegovec, who NO ONE (including yours truly) had in their predictions, rounded out the top 5.

Ms. Olympia Top 5:

Andrea Shaw

Angela Yeo

Helle Trevino

Margin Martin

Branka Njegovec

WOMEN’S PHYSIQUE OLYMPIA

“Be so good they can’t ignore you”. That’s one hell of a quote that is oh so true. After spending nearly half a decade being the bridesmaid at the Olympia, this year she FINALLY breaks through the glass ceiling and can finally add Women’s Physique Olympia champion to her incredible lists of accolades. She had to be perfect to win the title and it was clear from prejudging that she could not be denied any longer. Sarah Villegas, the now-former champion, was the talk of the town at the Olympia Press conference due to showing off her outstanding legs, and folks said that a third title was in the bag. But one day can change everything and that’s exactly what happened. Natalia was better in every way, shape, and form this year and it resulted in a new champion. But Sarah will NOT go down that easily, and I’m already awaiting a rematch between them in 2023. Brooke Walker finished 3rd once again, but came in with a better package and might disrupt Natalia and/or Sarah next year if she keeps this up. Barbara Menage (who many say should be a Masters Olympia favorite next year) placed 4th and Ivie Rhein rounded out the top 5.

Women’s Physique Olympia Top 5:

Natalia Abraham Coelho

Sarah Villegas

Brooke Walker

Barbara Menage

Ivie Rhein

FITNESS OLYMPIA

A new champion was guaranteed due to Whitney Jones sitting out due to health concerns. When Missy Truscott walked on stage during prejudging, it was made painfully clear that it was hers to lose. Missy was head and shoulders above everyone else this year. How appropriate that her routine was her being a shark smelling blood in the water. It was fitting as she walked away with her 2nd Fitness Olympia title in 3 years. Jaclyn Baker brought a much improved physique and routine which made her runner-up and her highest Olympia placement yet. Ariel Khadr, this year’s Fitness International Champion, placed 3rd with her Terminator routine and her physique, which was impressive but a bit softer than at the Arnold, which might have hurt her at the Olympia. Sarah Kovach placed 4th and rounding out the top five was Michelle Freda-Mensah in her Olympia debut, and capping off a huge first year for her as a pro.

Fitness Olympia Top 5:

Missy Truscott

Jaclyn Baker

Ariel Khadr

Sarah Kovach

Michelle Freda-Mensah

FIGURE OLYMPIA

Tell me if you’ve heard this before: “Cydney Gillon is Miss Figure Olympia.” Since 2017, she has won every Olympia. Her last loss came in 2018 at the Arnold Classic Australia, where she placed 2nd. At this point, the only two ways Cydney will lose the title is 1) she retires, making way for a new champion or 2) the person that can beat her has yet to step on an Olympia stage. But there is no denying that Cydney will go down as the greatest figure competitor of all time. Jessica Reyes Padilla, who had an amazing 2022, placed 2nd to cap off her big year. Lola Montez, who had a banner 2022 herself, made HUGE strides to place 3rd. Jossie Becerra placed 4th in her Olympia debut, and Natalia Soltero rounded out the top five.

Figure Olympia Top 5:

Cydney GIllon

Jessica Reyes Padilla

Lola Montez

Jossie Becerra

Natalia Soltero

BIKINI OLYMPIA

The one thing that’s for sure about the Bikini Olympia…is nothing’s for sure. In what to me was the surprise of the weekend, Maureen Blanquisco took home the Bikini Olympia title, ending a big year for her. Last year’s champ Jennifer Dorie would end up in the runner-up spot. Ashley Kaltwasser, while winning more shows than anyone in IFBB history hasn’t won the big one since 2015, will have to wait another year to capture the gold once again as she placed 3rd. Daraja Hill, who is quickly becoming a star in the bikini division, placed 4th and Lauralie Chapados, after placing runner-up last year, rounds out the top 5.

Bikini Olympia Top 5:

Maureen Blanquisco

Jennifer Dorie

Ashley Kaltwasser

Daraja Hill

Lauralie Chapados

WELLNESS OLYMPIA

Last year, Francielle Mattos made history by becoming the first-ever Miss Wellness Olympia. This year, with a even better physique, Francielle made sure she was the ONLY one who could call herself Miss Wellness Olympia as she successfully defended her title against a much bigger field of competitors. The first-ever Wellness International Champion Isabelle Nunes placed in the runner-up spot, meaning we will have to wait a bit longer for our first-ever Undisupted Wellness Champion (Arnold and Olympia in the same season) to be crowned. She switched places with Angela Borges, who placed 3rd this year after being the runner-up last year. Kassandra Gillis made a HUGE jump from last year right out of the top 10 (11th) to placing in the top five at number 4. Rounding out the top five was Rayane Santana, who many feel could be a future Wellness Olympia champion sooner rather than later.

Wellness Olympia Top 5:

Francielle Mattos

Isabelle Nunes

Angela Borges

Kassandra Gillis

Rayane Santana

While the Olympia in Vegas brought back plenty of memories and nostalgia, next year’s event goes back to Orlando and it will take place the first week of November, so a bit earlier than this year. This is the best time of the year…and no, I’m not just talking about the holidays…I’m talking about the Olympia, which is BACK in Vegas for the first time since the pandemic moved the event to Florida in 2020. This weekend, we will determine the best of the best of all divisions. To make it to this stage is vindication of you as a competitor. It shows that you are among the best in the world at what you do. 196 women will step on the biggest stage in bodybuilding, more than any time in HISTORY. Only 6 can call themselves THE absolute best. Below are my predictions on what I THINK will happen, and nothing more. Please remember that as you read through them. I picked my top six in each category as well as a dark horse (or two). Enjoy!

MS. OLYMPIA

21 women are in this year’s Ms. Olympia contest, including current champion Andrea Shaw. When the Ms. Olympia made its return in 2020, Andrea has represented what I feel most want women’s bodybuilding to be: incredible size, shape, and condition with plenty of feminine qualities, and Andrea has it all and then some. Margie Martin has shown that she is among one of the best in the world and has given Andrea a run for her money ever since the Ms. Olympia resurgence. Helle Trevino has wowed folks for quite some time and has what it takes to do it again. Angela Yeo has some of the biggest buzz I’ve seen for a pro female bodybuilder in some time and when you look at her, it’s not hard to see why. Theresa Ivancik has returned to bodybuilding after a stint in women’s physique and I feel she is in the right division for her, and she will show that this weekend. I also feel MayLa Ash is going to turn some heads as well with her incredible physique. For the Ms. O, I got Andrea remaining queen of bodybuilding and Margie as runner-up. For the rest of the top 6, I have Angela in 3rd, Helle in 4th, Theresa in 5th, and MayLa in 6th. My dark horse is Irene Anderson.

PREDICTIONS FOR 2022 MS. OLYMPIA:

Andrea Shaw

Margie Martin

Angela Yeo

Helle Trevino

Theresa Ivancik

MayLa Ash (Dark horse: Irene Anderson)

WOMEN’S PHYSIQUE OLYMPIA

24 women will compete for the honor of calling themselves the best women’s physique competitor in the world. Last year, Sarah Villegas proved that her win in 2020 over Shanique Grant was no fluke when she successfully retained her title. I know I shouldn’t beat against Sarah given her track record but this year’s crop of ladies is INSANE. Brooke Walker put folks on notice last year with a 3rd place finish. Anne Mohn is the current Arnold UK Champion and is looking incredible. Natalia Coelho has fought and fought and fought for the last few Olympias and would love to FINALLY taste Olympia gold rather than silver for the first time in her career. We finally get to see Ashley Jones make her much-anticipated Olympia debut and I feel that woman is gonna turn some heads this weekend. With that being said, I just don’t see Sarah giving up the title just yet, so I see a 3-peat in her future. I got Anne Mohn in the runner-up spot, followed by Ashley Jones in 3rd (yes, I have her that high for her first Olympia), then Natalia in 4th, Brooke in 5th, and Melissa Teich to round out the top six. My dark horse is Evon Pennington.

PREDICTIONS FOR 2022 WOMEN’S PHYSIQUE OLYMPIA:

Sarah Villegas

Anne Mohn

Ashley Jones

Natalia Coelho

Brooke Walker

Melissa Teich (Dark horse: Evon Pennington)

FITNESS OLYMPIA

At least one division will have a new champion as Whitney Jones will not be defending her title due to health issues she’s working on. She will be having other roles at the Olympia this weekend. 20 fitness women (as of this writing) are set to compete this weekend. To me this is going to come down to three ladies: current Fitness International Champion Ariel Khadr, and former Fitness Olympia Champions Missy Truscott and Oksana Grishina. All three come in with crazy physiques and insane routines that have wowed the crowd for quite some time. My pick to win goes to Ariel slightly because she has tasted winning one of the big ones in the form of the Fitness International title and she would love nothing more but to leave Vegas as the UNDISPUTED Queen of Fitness. Missy wants to come back with a vengeance after losing her title in 2021, but I feel she will be runner-up again…but it will be by a very slight margin. As far as the rest of the top 6, I have Oksana in 3rd, Tamara in 4th, Jaclyn in 5th, and Minna in 6th, with my dark horse being Sarah Kovach.

PREDICTIONS FOR 2022 FITNESS OLYMPIA:

Ariel Khadr

Missy Truscott

Oksana Grishina

Tamara Vahn

Jaclyn Baker

Minna Pajulahti (Dark Horse: Sarah Kovach)

FIGURE OLYMPIA

39 women are set to compete for figure’s top prize, which for the last few years has been dominated by one woman…Cydney Gillon. Since 2017, Cydney has been the standard for the figure division. Last year, she arguably became the greatest figure competitor of all time by winning her fifth-straight title. She will look to continue to put herself in the history books by winning an sixth-straight Olympia title. VERY few have done that, but if anyone can do it, It’s her. HOWEVER…it won’t be easy. Jessica Reyes Padilla has had one of the most impressive winning records this year of any figure competitor, and to me will be the one woman that keeps Cydney from winning title number six. But big time players always show up in big time moments, hence why I’m going to give the notch to Cydney but barely. I have Jessica as runner-up, followed by Nicole Zenobia Graham in 3rd, Lola Montez in 4th, Natalia Soltero in 5th and Bojana rounding out the top six. I’m going to pick TWO dark horses for figure: Wendy Fortino (who has went a WHOLE new level this year) and Angelita Lopez (who I feel is going to shock many folks this weekend)

PREDICTIONS FOR 2022 FIGURE OLYMPIA:

Cydney Gillon

Jessica Reyes Padilla

Nicole Zenobia Graham

Lola Montez

Natalia Soltero

Bojana Vasiljevic (Dark horses: Wendy Fortino and Angelita Lopez)

BIKINI OLYMPIA

Bikini’s top honor will be contested by 54 women….54 WOMEN!!! BRUH! That’s a lot of women to judge in one division. EASILY the biggest category of the weekend, male or female. Last year, Jennifer Dorie won the Bikini Olympia for the first time in her career, and honestly…I don’t see her wanting to give it up that easily. But at the same time, I can see Ashley Kaltwasser (the most winningest champion in IFBB history) want to win the Olympia again (she hasn’t won it since 2015) to add to her impressive resume. And then there’s Erin Stern, who has made quite the amazing transition from figure star to bikini star who I feel has finally found her footing in bikini. Janet Layng would love to be Bikini Olympia champion once more. With that being said, I’m going go with Jennifer repeating, with Erin as the runner-up, then Ashley in 3rd, Janet in 4th, Elisa in 5th, and rounding out the top 6 with Daraja. My dark horse is India Paulino, a woman that is NO stranger to being a top bikini star.

PREDICTIONS FOR 2022 BIKINI OLYMPIA:

Jennifer Dorie

Erin Stern

Ashley Kaltwasser

Janet Layug

Elisa Pecini

Daraja Hill (Dark horse: India Paulino)

WELLNESS OLYMPIA

Last year, history was made with the first-ever Wellness Olympia. This year, we have 38 women looking to add their name to the list…or technically 37 women to add their name to the list and only one to make sure she IS the list…the current champion Francielle Mattos. Once all the ladies made their Wellness walks last year, it was clear that Francielle would be the one to make history. She looks to keep it going this weekend as she has VASLEY improved on her physique, which some folks will say her winning again is a foregone conclusion. The first-ever Wellness International Champion Isabelle Nunes will have something to say about this, as she looks to become the first-ever Undisputed Wellness Queen (winning both the Arnold AND Olympia Wellness titles). Yarishna Ayala did not come in at her best at last year’s Olympia. I have a feel she will right that wrong and MAYBE witness her dream of becoming an Olympia champion. The Andrews sisters are going to bring it like very few can, especially Dr. Sunny, who has continued WOW fans all over. Jacqueline Rios and Rayane Fogal are two ladies that many folks say will turn the Wellness Olympia on its head should they come in. Kassandra Gillis has made an incredible transition from figure to wellness and has proven she belongs on the big stage. Amanda Burnett and Maria Paulette have made folks speechless with their social media content. I have a feeling that will translate well into the Olympia. I can’t front, this is a crapshoot for me to make predictions but here we go anyways: I have Isabelle winning the show, following by Francielle as runner-up, then Rayane in 3rd, Kassandra in 4th, Yarishna in 5th, and Dr. Sunny in 6th, with Maria Paulette as my dark horse. This is the category that I have the LEAST amount of confidence in picking, so please don’t place bets on this one. LOL.

PREDICTIONS FOR 2022 WELLNESS OLYMPIA:

Isabella Nunes

Francielle Mattos

Rayane Fogal de Souza Santana

Kassandra Gillis

Yarishna Ayala

Dr. Sunny Andrews (Dark horse: Maria Paulette Aranguren)

There you have it. My predictions for quite LITERALLY the biggest Olympia in history. We are in for a special weekend before Christmas, and Santa Claus is gonna give a few competitors a Christmas present they will never forget in the form of calling themselves Olympia Champions. When you have an employee who is willing to do anything that is asked of them with little to no complaints, one would THINK that they would be rewarded. Someone hasn’t bothered to relay that message to WWE because there is an employee on their payroll that fits exactly that. Her real name is soon to be Ashley Sebera-Diaz. Her WWE performer name…is Dana Brooke.

Over the years, we have shown her praise practically every chance we get. Unlike the wrestling world and the fickle fan base, we have seen and witness her progression over the least near-decade. Was she the best when she first entered the company? Absolutely not. Even we mentioned that in our earlier post about Dana. But you know what she HAS done? Year after year, she has put in the time and effort behind the scenes to make herself a better performer, whether it be in the ring or doing her promos or even how she presents herself in the events she’s on while representing WWE. Over the years, she has experience this thing called GROWTH as an overall performer, and for some reason wrestling “fans” (and i use that term VERY loosely these days) refuse to give her any sort of respect. It’s like it’s a crime to give her any sort of credit for improvement or for actually just being good. But man…the second she makes a mistake, folks are ready call for her job.

SPEAKING of folks calling for her job…how big of an asshole do you have to be to work in the same company and PUBLICALLY call for her to get her pink slip on national television without any provoking? That is what Corey Graves is…an ASSHOLE. For whatever reason, this son of a bitch has has it out for her for what seems like her entire career. Sam Roberts, a wannabe “journalist”, mentioned on commentary a few years back about Tamina, a fellow WWE Superstar, was miserable (she wasn’t, it’s her persona in WWE) and UNPROVOKED he mentioned that “you would be miserable to if you had to work with Dana Brooke” . BTW…this was said around the time Dana had lost her boyfriend at the time, Dallas McCarver. Not only ignorant but classless to do it at a time like that. Earlier this summer, another wannabe “journalist” Denise Salcedo just about had a damn heart attack and declared the world was coming to an end just because Dana got ONE (JUST ONE) pinfall victory over Becky Lynch (with help from Asuka, BTW). She was literally about to blow a gasket just because of that ONE victory! Funny how others can have that shocking victory and no one whines about it, but Dana gets that ONE unexpected win…and the internet losers declare the world is burning. I know, we should be showing love to the wrestling media that DOES give her her flowers, but that’s the sad thingL There isn’t one. Outside her own fans, there is not one wrestling podcast, blog, social media account, no entity that has ever given her any props. No legend to our knowledge has had her back in any way, shape, or form. That’s why FitGems Nation roots for her as hard as we do because no one else will. If there’s any wrestling entity that doesn’t entirely hate Dana Brooke, we would like to hear from you. We want to know that not EVERYONE is against her.

Outside of R-Truth (Get well soon, man!), NO ONE outdid Dana Brooke as far as carrying the title with fun and enjoyment.

Now…let’s talk about why we appreciate Dana Brooke. Like we’ve mentioned before, she has constantly put in the work in the ring as far as doing moves in addition to selling moves. She has mention going to acting classes outside of WWE to improve her promo skills. If you can’t tell how much she has improve on her speaking presentation from her earlier days to now, we don’t know what to say to you. She seems more natural on the mic now and nowhere near as nervous as before. Her run with the now-retired 24/7 Championship helped out with that a lot. In the ring, she has become more fluid with her moves. They look better, more crisp, and they have purpose as to why she does it rather than her just doing moves for moves sake, which she has done in the past. One think she has CLEARLY improved on that even the haters can’t deny is her selling. Dana has made some folks’ finishers looks like a million bucks, which is what you’re supposed to do. In no ways are we calling her the best seller in WWE (she isn’t) but she had gotten pretty damn good in that aspect that some folks that are current champions in the company (Ronda Rousey, looking at you) fail to comprehend. Oh yeah…Dana has done a lot for charity, whether representing WWE or herself, especially when it comes to kids. She has stated multiple times that she believes kids are the future and you can tell they mean a lot to her via her attendance and participation at Be A Star rallies and her own involvement with her future stepson.

We have stated over and over that Dana Brooke is arguably THE most underrated, underappreciated, underutilized, and overhated female in WWE these days, and we have pretty much wrote a mini-novel as to why we say that. Whatever she has been given to do, she do her best to make it work. Hell, she took what was supposed to be a comedy title in the 24/7 Championship and turned in into a defacto midcard women’ title so other ladies can get the spotlight, including Doudrop, Tamina, Alexa Bliss, Carmella, and Nikki Cross, who threw the title in the trash, retiring it and spitting in the face of what Dana was trying to do with the title.

THIS is who needs to win the Money in the Bank briefcase next year. Her reign is the 3rd longest in the history of the title, with only Asuka and Shayna Baszler having longer reigns. The list of people she has beaten is a who’s who of some of the best talent the NXT brand has ever had: Raquel, Dakota Kai, IYO SKY (Io Shiari), Alba Fyre (Kay Lee Ray), Cora Jade, Wendy Choo, Roxanne Perez, and Zoey Stark. Should she beat two of NXT UK’s greatest stars in Meiko and Blair later on today, there is no reason why Mandy should NOT be called the greatest NXT Women’s Champion of all time.

Like every good champion, she uses her environment and smarts for any advantage she can find, which of course includes her Toxic Attraction buddies Gigi Dolan and Jacy Jayne. But she has not been shy to show off her strength as well, especially in her latest battles, utilizing her built physique and surprising strength to her advantage. Well, her strength is surprising to those that don’t follow her on social media, because those that DO follow her (and based off her numbers, who doesn’t) knows that she takes very good care of herself and puts in serious work in the gym. You don’t look like a action figure without putting in the work. But it goes beyond what she goes in the gym for Mandy. It’s how she has presented herself and has elevated the people around her. The NXT Women’s division is the most competitive (and honestly the most muscular) it’s been in quite some time, and Mandy is a big reason for that. While we absolutely personally LOVED her tag team on the main roster with Dana Brooke (another woman which we’ll be talking about soon…stay tuned), no way would have that gotten her the attention or success as a performer that she has right now. Mandy is on the run of her career and has put her in prime position to be a major player on either RAW or Smackdown when she is eventually called up back to the main roster.

Whoever made the call to send Mandy to NXT deserves all the flowers in the world, as Mandy has taken the title and brand to new heights, making the NXT Women’s Championship one of the most sought-after titles in the WWE Women’s division and Mandy one of its most dominant champions. This SHOULD be a case for celebration to have one of the biggest fitness festivals in the world reach such a milestone, but it’s been scarred with controversy with the removal of pro women’s physique and pro figure, in addition to STILL not bringing back women’s bodybuilding despite the Olympia coming to their senses a couple of years ago and bringing back the Ms. Olympia competition in 2020 to massive praise not only with fans but within other competitors.

I understand that all things must evolve in order to survive and thrive, that has been true for all of eternity. Every entity that has made it has had to do just that. But every entity that has been able to thrive has been able to understand and respect where they came from and not show disrespect to what got them in the big dance in the first place. You would think someone like Arnold Schwarzenegger, someone who got his fame in the first place as a BODYBUILDER, would understand this concept. But sadly that doesn’t seem to be the case…at least on the female side of things. I mean, no women’s bodybuilding, no women’s physique, no figure?! It’s not a coincidence that the three top muscular divisions are not represented in the Arnold in 2023. In all honestly, with the amount of muscle the fitness division is packing, I’m shocked that the fitness division wasn’t cut as well. A bodybuilder, arguably THE most popular bodybuilder in the world, afraid of women with muscle is such a crock of shit. Any respect Arnold had in the bodybuilding world has went down the drain with how the females are bring cut in their own industry in the festival that is supposed to showcase the best of the fitness world, which includes…say it slowly with me…BODYBUILDING!!!!

And apparently a reason for the cuts on the women’s side of things has to do with “lack of depth”, which is honestly straight up horseshit. Last I checked, the figure division is DEEP, the women’s physique division is DEEP, the women’s bodybuilding division is DEEP. Ever since the Ms. Olympia competition returned, we have seen more female bodybuilders than we have in a while and has help balance out the female bodybuilders from the women’s physique competitors. And the addition of Wellness has helped balanced out who should be in wellness and who should be in figure, so mess me with the “lack of depth” bullshit of an excuse. So no, there’s no lack of depth on the part of those divisions…only a lack of incompetence on the part of Arnold and the committee.

On our Instagram, we called for a boycott of the Arnold next year and we are calling for it here. Attack them where it hurts. Don’t go to the Arnold, do not TALK about the Arnold on social media, do not purchase the Arnold websteam and instead invest in other shows that actually DO care about ALL the ladies of the industry. We’re making an announcement now…until things change in the Arnold, we will NOT be doing any form of coverage on any of out platforms. This is not to diss fitness, bikini, nor wellness. This is bigger than that. This is to show solidarity for ALL female divisions and to let them know that EACH division matters to us. It would be awesome if each division that IS represented at the Arnold, male or female, would show solidarity, and no one applies for the Arnold. But in all honesty, we don’t see that happening. But we will do our best to represent ALL female muscle as much and as often as possible on all our platforms, even if there are those like Arnold that won’t.

I attended the Arnold in 2015 and it was among the best times of my life. Unless things change, I’ll be damned if I ever go to another one again. Arnold, you have the opportunity to make things right. Your reputation has been damaged greatly but not permanently destroyed…yet. The ball is in your court to fix things before they are damaged beyond repair. Your move, sir.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2811206096575587797.post-41703052546739565722022-08-25T02:05:00.000-05:002022-08-25T02:05:28.248-05:00Kamille: The Brickhouse of Professional Wrestling
June 6, 2021.

NWA: When Our Shadows Fall.

Kamille defeated Serena Deeb to become the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) World Women’s Champion for the first time in her career. She is one of the most beautiful women in wrestling but also one of the most powerful as well. VERY few women in wrestling can rival her strength and athleticism, hence her long title reign. She has a power game, a striking game, a ground-and-pound game…honestly, it doesn’t matter what style of wrestling you have, Kamille can match with anyone, and for that reason, no one has been able to figure out how to stop her.

When one matches with her just on the LOOKS department, she is just about heads and shoulders above everyone else. A great example of that was displayed during the August 4th, 2021 edition of All Elite Wrestling (AEW) Dynamite (their Homecoming show) when Legit Layla Hirsch become Number One contender for Kamille’s title at the time. When Kamille went to the ring to confront Layla, the difference was insane. Kamille’s height, built, physique, demeanor…her overall presence was BOX OFFICE. If you were to flip your channel and see her on screen, most would stop and go “WOAH!” and be in awe of her. And most did as she was one of the top trending topics that night. I mean, Kamille would not look out of place as a Bond girl or villain or any kind of top villain in a movie. The Petite USA organization has launched a People’s Choice contest. The winner of the contest will make the Top 16 automatically and will be announced on August 13, the day of the Petite USA Finals. It’s a dollar ($1) a vote, and you can vote as much as you want. So realistically, you can vote 100 times ($100) or 1,000 times ($1,000) or even more than that! Proceeds from each vote will go to the Stop Soldier Suicide organization. Click here to view more on Stop Solider Suicide. We’ll provide the link below for Christine.

As stated in our previous blog post, Christine will represent Colorado under the Elite Ms. Petite division. Activewear (25%), Evening Gown (25%), and On-Stage Question (15%). BTW, the Teen, Miss, and Ms. divisions will have swimwear instead of activewear. While we know Christine would absolutely SMOKE the swimwear category, we have a feeling she’s gonna wow folks just as much in the Activewear portion. As cool as this will be for her next month, a part of us hopes very sincerely this will lead to her doing at least ONE MORE IFBB show. Figure, Bikini, Wellness…it doesn’t matter. Just one more show in the IFBB. Anyone who has checked out her social media over the last year or so would probably agree with us on this. We’ve seen quite a bit of competitors come back to do a show of two over the last decade, and with the masters divisions having their own World Championship now, expect even more to do so in the years to come. Why not Christine one day?!

To say we are excited for Christine is putting it mildly. Regardless of how far she goes in the pageant, we at FitGems Nation can’t express our excitement enough for one of the figure division’s greatest competitors. It’s pretty appropriate that one of the ladies that broke the glass ceiling for smaller competitors gets to compete in a pageant that is literally tailor made for her. Elite Ms. Petite USA Christine Pomponio…that sounds nice to us, and could become a reality next month! It sucks to see women STILL being treated as objects, no matter the profession. It’s 2022, people. We need to get past it. And if you think the female muscle world is immune to it, unfortunately you are sadly mistaken. In fact, I’m pretty sure it goes on more than many of you want to admit. I’m not shaming you to speak up in any way shape or form, but I DO want to share with you someone’s experience that I hope you will take to heart and at the bare minimum take some precautions of your own, whether you are dealing with the public or within the industry itself.

Amanda Kohatsu is one of the newest IFBB Pros, winning her pro card in figure and women’s physique and winning the 2021 NPC Nationals Overall Figure title. In addition to her very quick rise in the bodybuilding world, she is a legend among the powerlifting world, holding several records and titles before making the switch to the bodybuilding industry. Like most folks, people go to the doctors for checkups or when they are sick. Unfortunately for Amanda, she went to a doctor that, to put it nicely, overstep his boundaries.

The doctor she saw spent an hour telling her that bodybuilding and powerlifting are “stupid” and “wastes of time”. And she should look more feminine and try to lose some muscle mass. Also in the comments of her Instagram post, she mentioned that the doctor made her her take off her jacket to “analyze” her body fat percentage. Yeah…that sounds like sexual harassment to us. You can read it on her own page here

Don’t worry, she is looking for a new doctor and we hope she gets a new one soon. But it were me, I personally would have walked out of the doctor’s office and contacted his superior ASAP. That doctor deserves to lose his practice over crap like this and never be allowed to work in that profession ever again. The doctor’s office should be one of the few places automatically where you are not sexually harassed. Honestly, you shouldn’t be harassed in any way, shape, or form, but you get the point I’m making here. To all women out there (not just in the female muscle world), PLEASE check your surroundings and make sure that you know your doctors and anyone else you have to deal with for anything in your life (trainers, nutritionists, therapists, psychologists, etc.). If it feels wrong, get out ASAP. Don’t stick around. KNOW YOUR DAMN WORTH!

Amanda is going to be okay, but if you want to send her some love, give her a follow on Instagram here.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2811206096575587797.post-71365821591308049382022-03-11T02:52:00.001-06:002022-05-29T00:28:10.822-05:00Paige VanZant: An ELITE Acquisition
(All photos credited to All Elite Wrestling)

Professional wrestling for YEARS has belonged to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE, for short) when WCW and ECW went down and were purchased by Vince McMahon. Despite independent wrestling seeing decent numbers, the televised wrestling world has felt…stagnant and a bit too complacent for a lot of fans’ taste. For the most part, it’s not the performers’ fault. But where you’re the only game in town from a national TV standpoint, it can get pretty boring pretty quickly when your shows aren’t producing compelling television.

Enter All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

To many internet fans, AEW has been the breath of fresh air that they felt they needed as wrestling fans, with their storylines and approach to the business feeling like a throwback to arguably the most successful and popular time to be a wrestling fan: The Attitude Era. The last year, they have signed talent after talent after talent from WWE’s past to shape up AEW’s future. AEW has proven in their short history that they are here for the long haul. Many fans see them as the alternative to WWE they have craved, and many have gone to say that they are THE new place for professional wrestling and have sworn off WWE forever (and in some instances, we don’t blame the fans one bit…but that’s for another day). But for all the signings they have had, they have not had that one signing that could be a game changer as far as mainstream appeal is concerned, which is important to the growth and significance of any wrestling company that even wants to ATTEMPT of dethroning Vince’s WWE as the number one company in the world.

Enter Paige VanZant…date March, 9, 2022.

On AEW’s signature show, Wednesday Night Dynamite, after Scorpio Sky defeated Sammy Guevara to win the TNT Championship, VanZant attacked Tay Conti and signed her AEW talent contract on Conti’s back (more specifically her butt), officially making the former UFC star and current Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship competitor All Elite. Her signing was picked up by ESPN, the New York Post, SB Nation, MMA Junkie, MMA Fighting, and more. This is exactly what AEW was hoping when the signing became official, and if this goes as well as they hope it does, she could do what Ronda Rousey did for the women’s division in WWE, put more eyes on their talent and their product. It’s already done wonders for Tay Conti, who looks like will be PVZ’s first feud in the company. I would not be surprised if the ladies face off at AEW’s Double or Nothing PPV on Memorial Day Weekend (May 29 to be exact) either in a singles match or in a mixed tag match involving Sammy and Scorpio. <strike>(I know it’s a ways off, but competing in their biggest arena yet…the T-Mobile Arena, which holds about 20,000 people…they are gonna need big draws to get a sell-out, and PVZ can do that)</strike> (EDIT: Paige VanZant will make her official in-ring debut at AEW Double or Nothing this Sunday in a Mixed Trios match with Ethan Page and TNT Champion Scorpion Sky (with Dan Lambert in their corner) against Tay Conti, Sammy Guevara, and Frankie Kazarian).

Her Hollywood looks, fitness-model physique, and her overall toughness (maybe not her record) as a fighter has made her among the most popular in the fighting world…as well as the most hated. The way she has been portrayed leading up to her official signing suggests she will be a heel (bad person). From what she has displayed in her time in AEW thus far, she can talk a good game and obviously get physical. If she’s even HALF as good as Ronda was at picking up how wrestling works, AEW has got a goldmine in PVZ. Many folks had her linked to wrestling for quite some time, even going as far as WWE potentially bringing her in a few years ago for Summerslam.
