Song of the Week-Nelly "Number 1"

I bet everyone of you competitors have this mentality when you're prepping for a contest:

What does it take to be NUMBER ONE?!
Two is Not a Winner and Three Nobody Remembers

Song of the Week-12 Stones "We Are One"

This is one of my favorite songs at the moment. Definitely one to add to your workout tracks. This is not only a track dedicated to the U.S. troops, but this is also the track for the WWE Nexus group.

Song of the Week-DJ Khaled "All I Do Is Win" feat. Ludacris, Rick Ross, T-Pain & Snoop Dogg

What can I say...

All I do is win win win no matter what
Got money on mind I can never get enough
And everytime I step up in the building
Everybody hands go up...

And they stay there
And they say there yeah
And they stay there
Up down, up down
'Cause all I do is win win win
And if you goin' in put your hands in the air..

MAKE THEM SAY THERE!!

Song of the Week-Kool and the Gang "Celebration"

Over the weekend, FitGems Nation hit the 500 member mark! Never would I think that I would have 500 members on a site. Never. With that being said, Song of the Week for this week is perfect for this occasion. It's by Kool and the Gang, and it's called "Celebration". Plus the World Cup is going on and for Boston fans, you're one game away from another NBA title. That calls for SOME celebration, doesn't it?! :) And oh yeah...the Jr. Nationals are this weekend, meaning that we will have some new IFBB pros crowned this weekend! :)

Song of the Week-Art of Dying "Get Thru This"

The main chorus should speak to every physique competitor out there, regardless whether your fitness, figure, bikini, women's bodybuilding, whatever. Definitely some deep lyrics in there.

If I can get through this
I can get through anything
If I can make it through this
I can get through anything
I promise you

Song of the Week-Saliva "Time to Shine"

We're kicking off the Songs of the Week for June with a kick-ass tune by Saliva called "Time to Shine". I wouldn't be surprised if this was on some of your iPods or MP3 Players during your workouts.

Song of the Week-Madvillian "ALL CAPS"

I'm a fan of Drake, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Eminem, and many of today's mainstream hip-hop artists...but NOTHING tops old-school hip-hop. Case in point, this week's Song of the Week has the old-school vibe that can't be denied. Madvillian provides the track, called "ALL CAPS."

Song of the Week-Jamie Foxx feat. Justin Timberlake and T.I. "Winner"

After a small hiatus (ok, a somewhat LONG hiatus), Song of the Week is BACK! And to mark its return, here's a song that you might have heard in the club and in particular the NBA Playoffs. The song is called "Winner" Everyone who steps on a physique stage is a "Winner". :)

Sorry I haven't done this in a while, but here's the Song of the Week for this week. We're taking things down a bit with this one by Audioslave. The track is called "Be Yourself". And this line is perfect for when you're weight-training, doing cardio, getting ready for a show, etc...Be yourself is all that you can do.

Song of the Week-Common "The People"

Here's the final Song of the Week dedicated to Black History Month, and it featured one of the top spoken word artists in Common. This song is deep and has a pretty good message around it.

Song of the Week-Usher "More"

Continuing with the Black History Month theme, here's Usher with his new hit "More". This was used for the NBA All-Star Weekend, which was viewed as one of the biggest All-Star Weekends in NBA history (Over 108,000 in attendance!) BTW, this is the DJ Michael Studios version.

Song of the Week-Busta Rhymes feat. Linkin Park "We Made It"

This song is somewhat of a combination of Black History Month and a celebration of the New Orleans Saints's first ever Super Bowl title. I just listened to this song and like the beat and the overall message of it, which is simply..."We Made It". Good song and great collaboration by Busta Rhymes and Linkin Park.

Song of the Week-Nelly "Heart of a Champion"

In honor of Black History Month, each Song of the Week will be from a black artist. I hope everyone from ALL races will enjoy the selections for this month.

I'm kicking this off with Nelly, one of my favorite rappers, with one of his coolest tunes, "Heart of a Champion" It's a banger, yet inspirational as well, if you listen to the lyrics. You've probably have heard this song in a few basketball games.

Sports After Dark (Siouxcountry's Premier Radio Show)

If you can recall a while back, Siouxcountry had a radio show called Sports After Dark. It was created by Eryn Strickland (Pumpin’ Iron Eryn) and her co host, Allison Moyer (Miss Allifit), produced by Musclepapa John (or MPJ for short), and had some of the top names as guests. This happened, and that happened, and Sports After Dark disappeared for a bit. But they returned in full force this past Monday in a BIG way, by having one of the newest IFBB Figure pros, Ann Titone, as their first guest on their first show since the revival.

It's a great listen, as Ann talks about her incredible road to an IFBB Pro card, recovering from her surgery, and the amount of pizza she can eat in one setting. I'm dead serious when I say...make some room in your computer/iPod/MP3 player and listen to and download the Sports After Dark shows. You will not be disappointed.

Click on the link below listen to their interview with Ann Titone. To save it, right click it and go to "save target as".

MP3 Audio Link

To give you a heads up on next week, Gina Aliotti will be their next guest, so expect another big show. :) I think there will be a new show every Monday night. You can get all the updates on SportsAfterDark by the following links:

and, of course, Siouxcountry. :)

Song of the Week-Alexx Calise "Good Enough"

This month is a very special month for many reasons (Christmas, end of school year, football that REALLY matters (aka the playoffs and college football bowl games), etc.). Now this month will mark something I've never done before. I'm going to feature an artist for the entire month of December!!!

A few weeks ago, I had Halestorm as Song of the Week, and an up-and-coming artist by the name of Alexx Calise took noticed. She wanted her songs featured on this site, and I was happy to obligue. Long story short, I'll be featuring Alexx's material all month long, starting with this pretty cool song called "Good Enough". It's got a good beat to it, and would be good for cardio.

Later on this week, I'll give you an inside look into FitGems Nation's first-ever Featured Artist. She has ties with a major IFBB bodybuilder and happens to be a fitness enthusiast as well as a singer. Consider this my Christmas treat to you. Hope you enjoy her music! :)

Song of the Week-Pitbull "Shut It Down"

This Song of the Week was requested by Stacy via email, and it's becoming a big track across the States. It's from Pitbull, and it's called "Shut it Down". I think it's hard to find a song by Pitbull that you CAN'T groove to in the gym.

Don't forget to either Twit me or email me YOUR choice for Song of the Week. You have two more chances to have your song chosen as Song of the Week. Next month, I'm hoping to have a special treat for all of you regarding the Songs of the Week for December.

Song of the Week-Fabulous Ft. Ne-Yo "Make Me Better"

This week's Song of the Week comes from NPC Bikini competitor Rebecca Staggs via Twitter. The song is by F-a-b-o-l-o-u-s featuring Ne-Yo, titled "Make Me Better." I could see this song being a part of the cool-down process after a grueling workout for the ladies. Thanks for the suggestion, Rebecca!

Next week, I'll have another Song of the Week chosen by you, the readers. So remember to
Twit or e-mail me your song suggestions for the entire month of November!
